Monday, January 2nd, will get picked up on Wednesday, January 4th.

 Residents that get garbage picked up on Tuesdays will remain the same.

Library Job Opening

Farnsworth Public Library is accepting applications for a custodian for cleaning and basic maintenance of the building (indoors only). The position will be approximately 6 hours every week, divided into two shifts completed outside of Library hours, at $11/hour. The schedule is flexible as to evenings or mornings. Applicants must complete a City of Oconto Employment application, available at the Library, City Hall, or here:

2017 Seasonal Boat Launch and Aageson Pool Passes Available

Recycling Pick-Up Week of Thanksgiving

 There will be no recycling pick-up on Thursday November 24th.

All residents that would normally get picked up on Thursday November 24th will get picked up on Wednesday November 23rd.

Pick-up for residents on Wednesday November 23rd & Friday November 25th will remain the same

New Single Stream Recycling Meetings

Recycling Informational Meeting

The City of Oconto will be conducting an informational meeting on the new single stream recycling process starting January of 2017. All residents are welcome to attend and ask questions about the new process and the scheduling changes that will take effect in 2017.

All meetings will be held in the City of Oconto Council Chambers on:
November 9th – 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
November 9th – 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
November 16th – 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
November 16th – 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT – Building Inspector

Job Announcement

Building Inspector

Building Inspector – Oconto, WI (pop. 4,500), located on the Oconto River 30 minutes north of Green Bay, has a current opening for the position of Building Inspector. This position is a full-time, salaried position, working 40 hours per week.  Hours are generally 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional evening and early-morning hours required.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: issuing of building permits as allowable under municipal ordinance and state statutes, inspections of residential and commercial construction, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, property maintenance inspections for alleged violations of municipal codes and state statutes, enforcement of zoning and property maintenance codes and other related ordinances.

Minimum qualifications include: strong communication skills, considerable construction and/or building inspection experience, possess Wisconsin UDC and/or commercial certifications for construction, HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing, or be able to obtain the required certifications within an agreed upon period.  Candidates must possess a Wisconsin driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. Must be able to pass background check.
