FALL LOOSE LEAF

The City of Oconto Department of Public Works will begin its fal curbside collection of leaves and garden waste on October 9th until Friday November 9th. This material should be placed at the curb in separate piles. Leaves should be in a row no more than 4 feet wide and approximately 3 feet high. Leaves should be placed in open areas and not around obstacles such as street signs or trees or will not be picked up. Bagged material or mixed material will not be picked up.
Do not put leaves into the street. Place the leaves between the curb and the sidewalk and as close to the curb as possible. Leaves placed on the street will not be picked-up unless placed back in the area defined for proper pick-up. Brush cannot be mixed in with leaf piles.
Residents may also bring their loose leaves and garden waste to the City’s yard waste site, which is located at 1616 Main St.
It is not possible to accurately tell residents the exact day their leaves and garden wastes will be picked up.

FALL WATER MAIN FLUSHING

The Oconto Utility Commission will be flushing water mains in all areas south of the Oconto River on Monday, October 1st, 2018.
In all areas north of the Oconto River, West of and including Superior Avenue on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 2nd & 3rd, 2018.
In all areas north of the Oconto River, East of Superior Avenue, on Thursday and Friday October 4th & 5th, 2018.
Due to certain water main connections, other areas could be affected, please check your water for discoloration before using laundry.
Aageson Pool will be closing for the season at the close of business on Friday, August 31, 2018. Thank you for a great season!!!
Due to the Labor Day holiday, garbage pick-up normally scheduled for Monday, September 3, 2018 will take place on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. Pickup for Tuesday will remain the same.

The McDonald Street pedestrian bridge will be closed all day on Thursday, August 23 for repairs. The bridge will reopen on Friday, August 24.
Summitt Players is presenting “Twelfth Night” as part of its “Shakespeare in the State Park” series this Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Copper Culture State Park. Oconto Youth Football sign-up will be held on Monday, August 6th, Tuesday, August 7th and Wednesday, August 8th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each day. Sign-up will be held at Oconto High School by the blue sheds located northwest of the school. Flag football is for kids in 1st grade through 3rd grade and tackle football is for 4th grade through 6th grade (grades entering school this Fall). For tackle, there will be two teams: 4/5 graders and 5/6 graders. Cost is $20 for flag, $40 for tackle or $50 per family. Tackle players MUST attend sign-up with parents to be fitted for their gear. Also available at sign-up will be free tickets for the Packers exhibition opener on Thursday, August 9th at Lambeau Field. These tickets were made available to Oconto Youth Football players and parents through a Green Bay Packers grant. We have 100 tickets available. Please pass the word and information to others. City of Oconto Fireworks Display
The City of Oconto annual fireworks display will be held at 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. Fireworks will be shot off at Breakwater Park during the 2nd Annual Waterfest Celebration, which will include vendors, kid activities, music by Subject 2 Change and more!

Garbage pick-up will remain the same on Monday and Tuesday. Recycling pick-ups that would normally happen on Wednesday will be moved to Friday, due to the 4th of July.
