Construction on Washington Street, from Superior Avenue to Arbutus Avenue will begin on Monday, September 12, 2016. Washington Street will be closed to through traffic (only open to residents and emergency vehicles) for the duration of the project, which is expected to be complete by the end of October. Oconto Police Department is currently taking applications for and immediate full-time police officer position and also to establish an eligibility list. All applicants must have a driver’s license, good driving record, be in good physical condition, have a High School diploma and a minimum of 60 college credits. Must have eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification. A Psychological profile, Medical Examination, Drug Screen and Physical fitness/agility screening will be conducted. Residency required to 15 miles from the city of Oconto within 18 months of hire. The City of Oconto offers an excellent benefits package.
