Month: January 2022
Attention: Ice Breaking Bay of Green Bay
We received a letter from the Brown County Port & Resource Recovery Department asking us to share with the public how to be aware of ice breaking and keep everyone safe.
Prior to each ice breaking, a 72-hour advance notice to the public will occur via broadcast notice to mariners on VHF-FM marine channel 16, 21, or 23. Notices will also be posted on the Coast Guard’s 9th District website, and the Brown County Sheriff Office’s Facebook page.
The US Coast Guard recommends that ALL recreational ice users plan their activities carefully, dress appropriately, use caution on the ice, and stay away from shipping lanes. No ice is considered safe ice.
Please share this info with those you know who venture out on the ice and help keep them safe.
Thank you!
