Building Inspector
Building Inspector – Oconto, WI (pop. 4,500), located on the Oconto River 30 minutes north of Green Bay, has a current opening for the position of Building Inspector. This position is a full-time, salaried position, working 40 hours per week. Hours are generally 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional evening and early-morning hours required.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: issuing of building permits as allowable under municipal ordinance and state statutes, inspections of residential and commercial construction, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, property maintenance inspections for alleged violations of municipal codes and state statutes, enforcement of zoning and property maintenance codes and other related ordinances.
Minimum qualifications include: strong communication skills, considerable construction and/or building inspection experience, possess Wisconsin UDC and/or commercial certifications for construction, HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing, or be able to obtain the required certifications within an agreed upon period. Candidates must possess a Wisconsin driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. Must be able to pass background check.
